New ESXi 5.5 install, setup connection to outside network

We have just purchased a Dell server with ESXi 5.5 preinstalled to put in our test environment alongside our older ESXi 5.1 machine. I am trying to get the 5.5 machine setup for networking but am having trouble. I've started going through the networking guide but I don't seem to have the same setup as what is described in the guide. We access the 5.5 machine (host?? I'm new at this) via vSphere Client. The guide says to right click the host and go to all vcenter actions, I don't have that.

Anyway, as I currently have it configured, when I have the host highlighted and go to the configurations tab, I have two switches, Standard Switch: vSwitch0 Has a Virtual Machine Port Group with VM Network and one vm that we installed from OVF for testing and setup of the new 5.5 machine. vSwitch0 also has a VMkernel Port with a Management Network and vmk0 has the IP address I assigned it when we first fired up the new 5.5 server. Both of these ports connect to vmnic0 (1000 Full).  It also lists Satandard Switch:vSwitch1 which has a VM Network 2 and VMkernel Port with VMkernel and vmk1 with a 10.1.10 IP address, both ports connecting to vmnic1 (1000 Full).

So I've obviously got the setup wrong, but am struggling to find out / figure out how to fix it. 'Outside network' is not an option given me when I go in to "Edit Settings" on the test vm and try to set one of it's 2 NIC's to outside network.

Any pointers?

regards, Richard
