Virtual NIC Binding on ESXi 6.0 for DMZ

Lets say I have a VMWare ESXi Server with 2 Physical Network Adapters. Inside I'm running 5 Virtual Machines. I have setup 3 Virtual Switches inside ESXi.

  • Virtual Switch 1 - LAN - (3 VM's) - Physical NIC 1 - Connected to 8 port physical switch.
    • Windows Server 2012 R2
    • Windows 10
    • Firewall (Sophos UTM)
  • Virtual Switch 2 - WAN - (1 VM) - Physical NIC 2 - Connect to Cable Modem
    • Firewall
  • Virtual Switch 3 - DMZ - (2 VM's) - No Physical NIC
    • Firewall
    • Linux Public Server (Web and Other Functions)

I believe I have the DMZ configured correctly in the Firewall.

I don't know if the ESXi virtual switch has the capability of connecting the Firewall's Virtual-DMZ-NIC to the Linux Public Server's Virtual-DMZ-NIC, without having a Physical NIC.

I tried booting up a Desktop Linux Version (in place of the Linux Public Server) to test the network and it suggests the network connection is not connected (as you'd normally see if no network cable is plugged in).

Any suggestion on if I can make it work the way I want it to. Or just some clarity if what I'm dreaming of is not really possible?

Thank you.
