Problem with Networking in ESXi

Hi all,

I have a quick questions about networking in ESXi. I have a SAN that I am setting up and for that purpose I have 2 servers with 2 10G NICs in them and a controller server that only has a single 1G NIC. Because I don't have a 10G switch available I did a little rigging to get all of these ports on the same L2 network. It looks like this (sorry, bad diagram):

I attached both eth2 and eth3 to the same vSwitch in the virtual environment of both HP servers. ESXi recognizes that they are active and their link status is up when I connect everything.

The problem is that if I plug my laptop into the switch I cannot ping (or anything else) anything beyond eth3. It is not a firewall issue and I ensured the IP settings are correct. The vSwitch seems to not be broadcasting ARPs because I cannot even get MACs of anything beyond eth3 on the second HP server.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks!
